PDAC 2025 was a jam-packed four days in which we were fortunate to get lots of face time with valued mining customers from all corners of the globe, both at our booth and at our exclusive keynote event at The Rec Room in downtown Toronto.
Our team were extremely busy engaging with existing and prospective customers, but they did manage to squeeze into our AI selfie booth before the doors opened and I think futuristic mining looked pretty good on them.
The Seequent team is always proud to showcase what we’ve been working on for customers at PDAC, but this year was particularly special as we announced the arrival of Seequent Evo.
Here’s a rundown of that and other milestone moments from this year’s conference:
We knew AI would be a hot topic at PDAC2025 so we had a bit of fun with it in our AI selfie booth to celebrate the launch of Seequent Evo.
Seequent Evo – a new era in subsurface intelligence
After years of investment and innovation, we proudly unveiled Seequent Evo, our new cloud-based platform designed to revolutionise geoscience collaboration and data management, at PDAC 2025 where demos at our booth were in hot demand.
The answers to some of mining’s most pressing challenges lie in mining company data, yet we heard from our customers that disconnected systems, siloed workflows and inconsistent data formats keep businesses from unlocking value.
Seequent Evo represents the start of a new era in subsurface intelligence. It centralises data from various sources, enhances workflows and enables faster and more confident decision-making needed in today’s world. Seequent has already built two new applications on the platform – Driver, a machine-learning tool for geological data analysis, and BlockSync, which improves real-time collaboration on block model data. There’s so much more to come.
Seequent CEO Graham Grant delivers his keynote speech at PDAC 2025
Graham Grant, Seequent CEO, emphasised Evo’s potential to break down data silos and drive innovation in mining. Evo’s integration with Seequent’s desktop solutions, such as Leapfrog, extends their capabilities to the cloud, offering faster calculations and handling larger datasets.

Investment in innovation
Alex Boucher, Vice President of Seequent Labs, gave attendants at Seequent’s customer event insight into Seequent’s ongoing commitment to research and development.
Seequent Labs was launched in 2024 in recognition of the business’s need to continuously innovate. It has since grown to become a powerhouse team of 14 (half whom have a PhD) with deep expertise in geology, geophysics, geostatistics, data science and software engineering.
Alex told the room that Seequent Labs has a strong focus on prototyping which meant their research aligned with industry needs, and that outcomes could reach customers at pace.
Alex said current drivers behind Labs team research were:
- The emergence of Evo as a core platform that ties together all Seequent software, allowing code and data to coexist seamlessly.
- The need to develop new technologies for modelling automation.
- AI’s rise as a transformative force in technology and industry.
PDAC 2025: The panel discussion at Seequent’s customer event was hosted by Anthony Vaccaro, President, The Northern Miner Group, left and featured Seequent’s CTO John Vandermay, Segment Director Mining Dr Janina Elliott and Vice President Seequent Labs Alex Boucher (L-R).
Celebrating Latin America
Much of Seequent’s growth and success is thanks to our colleagues and clients in LAM. As an expression of gratitude, we hosted an exclusive networking event for Latin American attendants at PDAC 2025. This special event marked a significant milestone for Seequent, reinforcing our global impact and our commitment to customers in this important region.
We hosted visitors from Brazil, Chile, and Peru, together with their delegations and brought together a diverse audience of government entities, C-suites, and customers for valuable networking opportunities.

Mining – the challenging road ahead
Dr. Janina Elliott, Seequent Segment Director Mining, also spoke at the customer event where she highlighted the criticality of innovation and resilience in the geoscience community. Dr Elliott emphasised the significant challenges posed to the mining industry by the rising demand for critical minerals, driven by the expansion of data centres and AI technologies. Modern data centres required vast amounts of copper and substantial energy resources, she said, underscoring copper’s role in powering future technological advancements. But what really struck the audience was her reminder that people are at the heart of any transformation, I am proud Seequent can be a part of empowering them.
Seequent’s CTO, John Vandermay, emphasised easy openness and data access as well as cool new tools like 3D viewing and geospatial search.

Supporting New Zealand Trade
Seequent EVP for North America, Rob King hosted a New Zealand Trade and Enterprise event in our Toronto office.
To support our kiwi roots, our EVP for North America, Rob King hosted a New Zealand Trade and Enterprise event in our offices in Toronto. The event offered a unique opportunity to discuss and learn from New Zealand companies about opportunities in the mineral market in the Americas and to hear firsthand about New Zealand’s strategic plans for the mining sector from the New Zealand Minister for Resources Hon. Shane Jones.
Herman Lombard, Partner at Deloitte Canada, presented the trends and opportunities in sustainable mining in North America; discussed the growing demand for minerals in the clean energy transition, and offered practical advice for small to medium-sized businesses looking to capitalise on these opportunities.
