Facilitated Online Learning

Free world-class online training for OpenGround customers

What is Facilitated Online Learning (FOL)?

The Facilitated Online Learning program has been developed in line with CDOL (Certificate of Designing Online Learning) principles, a training methodology which emphasizes effective change and development over mere knowledge transfer.  The 'Working with OpenGround' FOL program takes the form of three modules, each divided into two segments.  The first segment of each module is a compulsory self led element, primarily consisting of video based demonstration and explanation.  This is then followed by a workshop where delegates will collaboratively apply this knowledge in various scenarios and thus gaining practical experience of using the software.

Are the self-led elements necessary?

Absolutely, yes. These are an essential part of your learning and the workshop should not been seen as a replacement for these.

How long should I schedule for the FOL program?

We recommend allocating twelve hours for the full FOL program. So that's three modules which each include a self-led element (2 hours) and an associated workshop (2 hours).

What should I expect from the workshops?

The workshops are an online forum, currently undertaken on Teams, where you will gather with other delegates on your presentation of the program with a facilitator. The facilitator will give some context and then outline each of the tasks you'll be tackling. Typically, one of the delegates will volunteer to demonstrate how to address the task using the software on the facilitator's machine via screenshare while others are encouraged to input verbally. Therefore, it is not necessary to have separate access to licences, the training cloud instance, etc.

Delegates will be expected to actively participate and so should attend from a dedicated machine (i.e., not sharing with others), in a reasonably quiet environment with suitable audio and microphone. Attending as a group in a single room is not ideal.

As interaction is key each presentation of the program is capped at 8 delegates. Therefore, we are grateful to those who notify of us beforehand should any circumstances arise which might compromise attendance on the sessions.

Who is the program for?

The 'Working with OpenGround' FOL program is aimed at new users of a mature system. That is, the program focuses on the day-to-day functionality an engineer or ground specialist might use regularly when running projects.  The program is not intended to address 'System Manager' tasks such as template design, user management and model management.

How much does the program cost?

Nothing - we don't charge for the FOL program at this time. We do ask, however, that those signing up for the program are fully committed to it's form and requirements. That is, please allocated sufficient time to review the self led material and attend the workshops fully prepared.

How do I sign up?

To express your interest in a specific presentation, please contact Philip Child at [email protected] or utilize the registration button to send us an email, indicating your preferred presentation (for example, "EMEA 1"). We recommend registering for the complete presentation series, as outlined by the individual rows of white cells in the image provided. Kindly note the presentation ID (such as "1") located to the left of these rows for reference.

We will then seek to ensure the program is right for you before guiding you through the enrolment process.  Note that this does typically include a few short steps which you will need to undertake before enrolment is completed.
